BT Group has completed the first wave of transformation of its Global Services unit, following a deal to sell two part of the domestic operations of BT Italia to Telecom Italia.
BT Global Services CEO Bas Burger said that the next phase of the transformation would focus on delivering growth, in a market where growth 'has proved elusive'. The transformation programme of Global Services was launched in September 2018 with the aim of restructuring the business around core markets; building value in strategic areas of growth; and limiting risk while delivering higher returns. This involved simplifying operations, focusing on a core set of multi-national customers, and simplifying and modernising the product portfolio.
The plan involved the sale of domestic operations, with this now done in more than 20 countries including France, China, Singapore, China, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany and 15 countries in Latin America. Most of the divested operations have become part of BT Global Services' worldwide network of partners and channels. BT Global Services still delivers services in over 180 countries worldwide, but now with fewer but larger customers, a slimmed down and smart digital product offering, and increased productivity.
