Abbott raises quarterly dividend by 25% to 45 cents a share

Abbott ABT, +0.47% said Friday its board has raised its quarterly dividend by 25% to 45 cents a share. The health care company has raised its dividend for 49 straight years, making it a member of the S&P 500 Dividend Aristocrats Index, which includes companies that have raised their dividends for at least 25 consecutive years. Shares were slightly lower Friday, but are up 22% in the year to date, while the S&P 500 SPX, -0.13% has gained 13%.
