FTTP accounts for 14.8% of fixed broadband subscriptions in Ireland - ComReg

Fixed broadband subscriptions in Ireland reached 1.5 million in Q3 2020, up 0.8 percent from Q2 2020 and up 3.6 percent from Q3 2019, according to the latest quarterly key data report on the electronic communications market from ComReg.

Of these, more than 223,000 where FTTP subscriptions, accounting for 14.8 percent of total fixed broadband subscriptions, up from 9.9 percent in Q3 2019. The average fixed residential broadband subscriber used 315.9 GB data per month in Q3, up 60.4 percent from the year-earlier quarter; with the average business subscriber using 140.5 GB per month, up 10 percent year-on-year. 

Total mobile subscriptions in Ireland (including mobile broadband and M2M) reached 6.96 million in Q3 2020, driven by growth in post-paid subscriptions which now account for more than 65 percent of total subscriptions. M2M subscriptions reached 1.45 million, up 26.3 percent from Q3 2029, to account for 20.9 percent of all mobile subscriptions. The average mobile voice subscriber used 22.17 minutes per month (up 9.6% y-o-y), sent 44 texts per month (down 26.1% y-o-y) and used 10.9 GB data per month (up 46.6% y-o-y).
