Covid-19 getting stronger during winter says Health Official

Imphal, Dec 11 (UNI) The virulency of Covid 19 is getting stronger as winter has set in and Manipur government has started preparing for vaccination Health director Dr K Rajo today said.
Cases of Covid spreading were decreasing and the SOP was strictly
followed in some district like Ukhrul he said where the virus was
contained. He called upon the masses to be cautious as the second
wave of the virus has started with the arrival of the cold season.
Vaccination may start from January 2021.
Meanwhile, in the past twenty-four hours, 136 persons (72M, 64F) from the general population and 38 personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new COVID-I9 positive cases.
The positive persons were tested at JNIMS (93), RIMS (22), Imphal East (4), Imphal West (3), Maipakpi (1), Acme (1), Escent Diagnostics (3), Shija Hospital (10), Jivan Hospital (1), Raj Medicity (9), Thoubal (4), Bishnupur (11), Senapati (1). Tamenglong (4), Kangpokpi (1) and
Babina Diagnostics (6).
The positive cases from the general population were from Imphal West (45), Imphal East (41), Thoubal (8), Bishnupur (12), Kakching (2), Tamenglong (5), Tengnoupal (4), Chandel (2), Kangpokpi (3), Senapati (2) and Churachandpur (12). All were locals without any significant travel history. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing were in place.
In the last 24 hours, two persons aged 36 years (male, Imphal East) and 41 years (male, Imphal East) expired at JNIMS Hospital (2). The cumulative number of deaths was 320.
The total number of discharged persons was 144. They are from CAPF (4), Home Isolation (74), RIMS (20), JNIMS (7), LKK (2), UNACCO (1), RD Wing (21), Shri (5), TK Ukhrul (2), Thoubal (7) and Tamenglong (1).
The cumulative number of positive cases was 26,859 (General Population 23,581 and Central Security Personnel — 3,278). The cumulative number of recovered cases is 23,541 (General Population — 20,611 and Central Security Personnel — 2,930). The number of active cases was 2,998 (General Population — 2.654 and Central Security Personnel 344). The recovery rate was 87.64 per cent.
