Kwakta: MLA visits water supply schemes, community pond

Bishnupur, December 10 2020: Following the suspension of the 48 hours bandh imposed by All Kwakta Co-ordinating Committee (AKCC) along the Tiddim Road, Moirang AC MLA P Sharatchandra inspected defunct Water Supply Schemes and a community pond in Kwakta areas on Wednesday.

The inspection drive was also attended by AKCC convenor Anish Ahamad; EE of PHED Bishnupur Rambo Puyam; SDPO Moirang Sanajaoba, Phougakchao Ikhai Police Station OC, Kh Rajen, Councilors of Kwakta Municipal Council and social worker Anwar Ali among others.

The team inspected Charangpat Water Supply Scheme; Kwakta Thingel Pukhri Achouba, Gothol Kwakta Water Supply Scheme etc.

By the sideline of the drive, P Sharatchandra stated that facilities for clean water will soon be given to the people of Kwakta.

The Government is also considering to construct one water supply scheme at a budget of Rs 16 crore in Kwakta, he said and added that the pond at Kwakta Thingel would be utilised to meet the pressing demand of water by the locals for the time being.

It may be mentioned that the AKCC called off the 48 hours bandh on December 8 after a meeting with the MLA of Moirang AC; Executive Engineer, PHED Bishnupur; Chairpersons and Councillors of Kwakta Municipal Council; Members Kwakta Gram Panchayat and members of the committee at the residence of the MLA.
