Imphal, December 10 2020: As a mark of protest against the passing of Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) on December 11, 2019, six student unions namely All Manipur Students Union (AMSU), Manipuri Students Federation (MSF), Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM), Kangleipak Students Association (KSA), Students Union of Kangleipak (SUK) and Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Shinpanglup (AIMS) will hoist black flags to reaffirm their stand against CAB.

Extensive agitations were carried out against the passing and implementation of this Bill.

However CAB was passed by Parliament and was turned into an Act on December 11 last year.

This particular day has been declared as a Black Day by the North East Students Organization (NESO) for the people of the North Eastern States against the enactment of the Bill, said the student bodies in a joint statement.

The six students union of Manipur will hoist black flags on the said day to show that they still stand against the Act.
