Purvanchal to be new hot spot of UP's economy: Navneet Sehgal

Gorakhpur, Dec 11 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Minister of State for Small, Medium Enterprises (MSME) Chaudhary Udaybhan Singh has said that development has been the top most commitment of the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, he added, the government following the principle of ' we do what we say' for the overall development.
Purvanchal, he pointed out, has been of special importance due to its merits. This entire area has been known for its history, natural wealth and great personalities. There is a very rich tradition of cottage industry and handicrafts throughout the region, the minister said while adding, that the incumbent government has been continuously working for better Purvanchal through its flagship scheme of One District, One Product (ODOP).
He was presiding over a session organised at Gorakhpur University here on Friday during National Webiner-cum- Seminar on 'Sustainable Development: Issues, Strategy and Future Direction of Purvanchal'. Singh also said that whoever are the experts connected through this event, I would like them all to sit with us to brainstorm and prepare the blueprint of the rich Purvanchal as per the intention of the Chief Minister.

The chief speaker of the webinar, Additional Chief Secretary, MSME Navneet Sehgal said that Purvanchal will become a new hotspot of Uttar Pradesh's economy. There are all possibilities in this regard, he added while saying how for example, the world's most fertile land, abundant water, rich human resources and markets in the form of population, the rich tradition of handicrafts in every district were in the region.
The high-ranking official also underlined the historical fact that Purvanchal was once considered among the richest areas of the country due to its merits. "Our products have not been competitive in the market due to non-updates with technology. Clusters of cottage industries gradually ended. In every respect, the Purvanchal was marked by backwardness. Exodus became permanent here. The earlier governments were also largely responsible for this" the bureaucrat mused.

Mr Sehgal said that the world's attitude towards China has changed due to the global pandemic of Corona. Those investing there want to take their investment to other countries. Countries like Japan are also helping their investors for this. In such a situation, it is also a great opportunity for Uttar Pradesh especially Purvanchal, the additional chief secretary MSME said.
Taking advantage of this, the government is committed to returning to the old glory of Purvanchal once again under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, he said while pointing out how there were immense possibilities in the field of farming, service sector and one district one product (ODOP). The need is to update them with technology in a timely manner, to increase the capacity and quality of the product, to provide financial facilities as per the requirement and to make the market available.
The government is also doing this through several schemes (skill development, Vishwakarma Shram Samman, Common Facility Center, etc.). Sehgal said that Purvanchal being the densest population of the world is therefore also the largest market. FMCG companies want to invest where there is a market and labor is cheaper to save expenses.
The condition is that there should be an atmosphere there. After better law and order, the emphasis of the government is on the development of basic facilities. In the coming years, in addition to the International Greenfield Jewel Airport, Bundelkhand, Purvanchal and Ganga Expressway, Ayodhya, Kushinagar, Sonbhadra will also have airports. Through this, the market of the country and the world will be within reach of Purvanchal.
Being the workplace of water, forest and great men (Lord Shri Ram, Buddha, Kabir, Guru Gorakhnath), there is also immense potential for all kinds of tourism here. Making the best use of all these possibilities, the purpose of this event is to return the old glory of Purvanchal.
Economist Dr. Umesh Singh spoke about the possibilities of food processing, employment arising from it and nutritional security. Gallant Ispat CMD Chandra Prakash Agarwal suggested that the government should identify possibilities according to the region. Develop basic facilities according to the units to be set up.
He also suggested to create an economy model of straw and waste management. According to him, energy, compost can be made from it. If this happens, it will be better in terms of health and environment. Dr. Manoj Kumar Aggarwal said that instead of blindfolding, we should develop a development model according to our needs.
Dr Agarwal suggested to "take the cooperation of local universities or educational institutions in it". The method of preparation and execution should be like election, he added, while elaborating that the emphasis will be on the MSME sector to generate the most employment at the local level in low capital. The program was conducted by Dr. Sanjeet Kumar.
