SAD condemns Centre's refusal to take back farm laws
- Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Singh Badal on Thursday condemned the central government's stand of not taking back the three farm laws against which farmers have been protesting, saying that the press conference held by the Centre proved that they were against the country's 'annadatta'.
- Speaking at a press conference here, Badal said that such laws were only passed by dictatorships and the Centre was trying to communalise the farmers' agitation in and around the national capital.

- Union Minister for Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Nitin Gadkari on Thursday said that India was a destination with huge potential for attractive investments and urged people to invest in MSMEs in the country.

US flies B-52 bombers to Middle East as show of force against Iran
- The US on Thursday flew a pair of B-52 strategic bombers from a base in Louisiana to the Middle East, as a show of force against Iran, as tensions continue to escalate between Tehran and Washington during President Donald Trump's outgoing administration.
- The B-52H "Stratofortresses," long-range heavy bombers that can carry nuclear warheads or perform conventional missions, left Barksdale Air Force Base on a short-notice nonstop mission, reported Washington Post.
World carbon dioxide emissions drop 7% in pandemic-hit 2020
- A locked-down pandemic-struck world cut its carbon dioxide emissions this year by 7%, the biggest drop ever, new preliminary figures show.
- The Global Carbon Project, an authoritative group of dozens of international scientists who track emissions, calculated that the world will have put 37 billion US tons (34 billion metric tons) of carbon dioxide in the air in 2020. That's down from 40.1 billion US tons (36.4 billion metric tons) in 2019, according to a study published on Thursday in the journal Earth System Science Data.
DCW institutes inquiry after Manish Sisodia family attacked in Delhi
- Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) on Thursday said it has set up an inquiry taking suo-moto cognizance of media reports of an alleged mob attack on the family of Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia inside his official residence on Monday.
- As per a statement, publicly available CCTV footage of the incident clearly showed a large mob allegedly belonging to a political party, attacking the house and easily breaching security cover despite the presence of security personnel.
- The statement also added that Sisodia's wife and children were present in the house at the time of the attack.
