Meghalaya Speaker meets Governor over MRSSA

Shillong, Dec 11 (UNI) Meghalaya Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh on Friday met with Governor Satya Pal Malik to discuss the amendment to Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act (MRSSA).
Talking to reporters after the meeting, he informed that he received a positive response from the governor on the amendment bill but added that Malik requested for time to go through the act.

“Keeping in mind the amendment (to MRSSA) is useful and at the same time required for a state like us, to ensure that people of the state are taken care of, and he has requested me that he will need little more time,” Lyngdoh said.
In response to Opposition Congress’ demand for recalling the amendment and implementing the principal act, he said that the amended bill was passed unanimously by members of the house.
“I don’t know what the opposition is talking about, the bill that has been passed and we have to see it is assented by the governor. Everybody should work together for the people of the state,” the speaker underscored.
