The Irish Government has announced an acceleration of the National Broadband Plan (NBP) to deliver broadband connectivity to 679 rural primary schools by end-2022, with the first 25 schools now connected.
Some schools would have had to wait for up to seven years to be connected under the original roll-out plans. This acceleration roll-out plan will now connect all schools within two years. Around 70 schools in the Intervention Area across Ireland will become Broadband Connection Points (BCPs) by end-Q1 2021, receiving 150 Mbps connectivity for educational access.
