How to maintain a healthy scalp this winter

The scalp is an extension of the face, and just like our face which gets our utmost care, our scalp also deserves the same. Beautiful hair begins with a healthy scalp and a healthy scalp needs regular and thorough cleansing, care and moisturizing. During winter, as the temperature and humidity drops, the dry air becomes a root cause of a flaky, dry or itchy scalp. Here are a few beauty tips you can follow for a healthy scalp:

When it comes to scalp healthy, one easily confuses dryness with dandruff, but the two are different concerns, which needs to be treated in different ways. In a dry scalp, the skin gets irritated and flakes off. But with dandruff, the cause is too much oil on the scalp and it's that excess oil that causes skin cells to build up and eventually, shed.

And in winters, this can become more evident than ever. The dandruff flakes are nothing but the accelerated overproduction of sebum, triggered by fungi or bacteria. Regular at-home use of a dandruff specific shampoo can act on dandruff. An effective shampoo can help to eliminate impurities from the scalp.

The second common scalp problem faced in winters is a dry and itchy scalp. This could be an indication of sensitivity. For this concern, one needs to use the correct shampoo, conditioner and masque. The right hydrating hair products will help to soothe & hydrate a dry itchy scalp by restoring the oil/moisture balance. Indulge in regular oiling and also exfoliating the scalp. Periodically exfoliating the scalp can help to get rid of all the product buildup.
