The Padgha police said, on October 21 Shreepat had filed a missing case about his wife and three children. The incident came to light on Thursday evening when Shreepat's brother had gone to forest area to collect woods during which he noticed four decomposed bodies hanging from a tree.
Police said through clothes of deceased, the family came to know about their identity.
The family informed police about the incident. The bodies were sent for autopsy.
The cops have also called a forensic team to collect evidence.
The police said they have registered accidental death report and as per finding further action would be taken in the case.
Dinesh Katke, senior police inspector of Padgha police station said, "We are making detailed probe but primary inquiry shows that since the husband had married to another woman, the relationship between the couple was not good and they frequently used to fight over the same".
This is second such incident in Thane district. Last month three people, including a tantrik in Shahapur, had committed suicide by hanging from a tree to gain a special power.
