Lithuanian telecom market rises 1% in Q3

The Lithuanian telecom market totaled EUR 184.1 million in the third quarter, according to a study from regulator RRT. The figure was up 0.9 percent year-on-year and 2.7 percent quarter-on-quarter. 

The capex of telecom companies amounted to EUR 21.37 million, with Telia Lithuania responsible for 42.2 percent of the whole.

Broadband penetration totaled 52.8 percent, up by 0.9 percentage point quarter-on-quarter and 2.7 percentage points year-on-year. Just under half (49%) of households used fixed broadband at 30 Mbps or higher, while 29.3 percent of households used speeds of up to 100 Mbps or higher speeds, up from 46.5 percent and 28.4 percent year-on-year, respectively.

The fixed internet subscriber base using services on fibre networks totaled 603,200, up by 1.8 percent year-on-year.

The active mobile internet user base (accessing GPRS/EDGE, UMTS, UMTS HSDPA, LTE) lifted 5.9 percent year-on-year to 3.206 million. The active LTE mobile internet user base totaled 2.618 million, up by 10.9 percent year-on-year. The active mobile subscriber base advanced 2.1 percent to 4.735 million while the M2M user base increased by 7.2 percent to 345,300.

A total of 10,391 LTE base stations operated in the country at the end of September, up by 16.8 percent year-on-year.

The country's pay-TV subscriber base was almost unchanged at 677,900, with penetration at 51.7 percent of households. The IPTV subscriber base climbed 8.8 percent to 301,000.

Revenues from mobile internet services went higher by 14 percent to EUR 61.7 million. Fixed internet revenues amounted to EUR 24.1 million, up by 1.8 percent. Pay-TV revenues went up 7.5 percent to EUR 19.0 million.
