Odisha issues tentative schedule of MBBS exams from 2021 to 2024

BHUBANESWAR: The higher education department on Thursday issued a tentative schedule of MBBS examinations to be applicable for all universities in the state from the year 2021 to 2024.

The state government has approved the National Medical Commission (NMC) guidelines, which shall be followed in the state to ensure timely examinations for MBBS students admitted to different institutions.

Department secretary Saswat Mishra has written letter to controller of examination, Utkal University, Berhampur University, FM University Balasore, Sambalpur University, North Odisha University Baripada, KIIT and SOA about this tentative schedule.


Result of third phase MBBS (part I) examination of 2016 batch will be published in April next year. Internship of this batch will start in May 2021, while PG course will start in the month of July 2022.

2021 batch's academic session will start in October 2021. Results of first MBBS will be published in September 2022. Similarly, session of the 2023 MBBS batch will start in the month of September 2023. Results of first phase MBBS classes will be published in September 2024.


After the state government's order, all medical and dental colleges were opened for physical classes from December 1. The government has also decided to have a fixed examination calendar for all the 11 medical colleges in the state. The colleges, however, have to follow strict social distancing norms.
