New Zealand vs West Indies 2nd Test Live Updates : Shannon Gabriel has broken the threatening looking partnership between Will Young and Henry Nicholls. Gabriel took his 3rd wicket as he break 70 run stand between Young and Nicholls.

Earlier on Day 1 in the first session, West Indies fast bowlers stayed on top after bowling first on the green pitch at the Basin Reserve. New Zealand lost wickets of both their openers Tom Latham (27), Tom Blundell (14) and Ross Taylor’s (9) in quick succession.

For the West Indies, Shannon Gabriel took two wickets and debutant Chemar Holder got the prized wicket of captain Tom Latham.

Teams bowling first have won six and drawn one of the last seven Tests at the venue.

For New Zealand, Will Young is batting at No. 3 in the place of Kane Williamson, who is on paternity leave.

West Indies have started with two debutants, both coming in as a result of forced changes, with wicketkeeper-batsman Joshua da Silva  and fast bowler Chemar Holder replacing the injured Shane Dowrich and bereaved Kemar Roach respectively.
