Navi Mumbai: 7 thousand kg of garbage taken out in the sea area, flamingos camped

A small group of Dharmesh Barai, a native of Balrampur district of Uttar Pradesh, has taken a big initiative by taking out 7000 kg of garbage from the mangrove area in the Navi Mumbai sea area called Satellite City. This not only created an eco-friendly environment but now many birds like flamingos are able to breathe freely and appear to roost. Now the flamingo birds have also started arriving in this area.

A big initiative of a small group of Dharmesh Barai of Balrampur

Dharmesh Barai, founder of Environmental Life lives in Navi Mumbai. But they are native to Laladihwa village in Atraura in Balrampur district. He took the initiative to free the mangrove area near Karave village, a little away from the Marine Training Institute TS Chanakya at Nerul in Navi Mumbai.

Fishermen go fishing through this litter route. Dharmesh told that along with two cleanup volunteers named Roshan Bhosle and Shriram Shankar started cleaning in the mangrove area. Today, 90 people have joined the environmental life known as mangrove soldiers.

The campaign begins on 15 August

Dharmesh said that this campaign was started on 15 August. Cleaning was done for two hours every Sunday. On Wednesday, 7000 kg of garbage was removed in about 3 months. They have also shared before and after photos of garbage removal from the mangrove area.

Dharmesh says that what we have done is little but the support of the people was tremendous. Officials of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) also took cognizance of the picture of the mangrove area becoming junk. NMMC Deputy Commissioner Babasaheb Rajle personally approached Dharmesh Barai and joined the campaign with him.
