BBL 2020 LIVE – Hobart Hurricanes beat Sydney Sixers by 16 runs : Hurricanes has won the inaugral game of Big Bash League 2020 season. Defending champion Sydney Sixers opened their BBL campaign with loss.
Sixers while chasing 178 fell short by 162/6. Hobart Hurricanes pocket 3 points. Sydney Sixers get 1 point, for being ahead at the 10-over mark.
Tim David who scored brilliant 58 from 33 balls was named the player of the match. “Was glad we could get to a good score. Lots of new faces but it’s been great fun. Awesome to start with a win, we’re stoked.”
Asked to bat first Hurricanes scored scored 178/9 in their alloted 20 overs aided by half centuries from Colin Ingram 55 (42balls) and Tim David 58 (33balls). In reply Sixers could only score 162 for 6 in their alloted 20.
Notably, BBL 10 is the first T20 league which will be played in as many as nine venues and spectators will be allowed to witness the action from the stands. While the first half of the competition will be played in Hobart and Canberra, the tournament will eventually move to Launceston, Brisbane, Adelaide, Carrara Oval, Perth, Melbourne and Sydney.
Also, BBL 2020 will witness three new rules – Bash Boost, X-Factor and Power surge.
