Microsoft showed up at The Game Awards 2020 to reveal the first game from on its newest studios, The Initiative. The game is called Perfect Dark and it's coming to Xbox and PC.
Before this reveal, developers from The Initiative teased that their new game would be a mix of old and new, and now we finally know what that means (the original Perfect Dark was developed by Rare and released back in 2000).
Like the original game, Perfect Dark is first-person shooter and, as seen in the trailer above, takes place in a futuristic setting and stars Agent Dark. This new game is a reimaging of the original--it's a secret agent thriller as opposed to stealth driven shooter.
Founded in 2018, The Initiative is led by quite the veteran-filled team. Members of the studio include God of War lead producer Brian Westergaard, 12-year Crystal Dynamics veteran Dan Neuburger, 16-year Microsoft veteran Blake Fischer, former Respawn recruiter Annie Lohr, former Crystal Dynamics recruiter Lindsey McQueeney, and Red Redemption 2 writer and designer Christian Cantamessa. The team is led by former Square Enix and Activision boss Darryl Gallagher.
