The Court framed charges for a trial against Laimayum Sangita of Palace Compound Thangapat Mapal, Konthoujam Ibomcha S/o (L) Bheigya of Angtha Mamang Leikai Khongnang Makhong, Md Abdul Wahid Khan and Md Sunk Khan both from Kshetri Bengoon Mayai Leikai under different sections of IPC on November 26 last and discharged L Indrajit Sharma (husband of L Sangita) from the case.

All the charge-sheeted accused persons pleaded not guilty and prayed for a trial, hence the Court fixed January 5 for the hearing of the first prosecution witness.

Mention may be made that Kshetrimayum (O) Sumati @ Ningol was found dead on a roadside at Thiyam Chingjin with blood on her nostrils and cloth tightened around her neck on June 24 last year.

It was reported that some witnesses present at the incident site suspected L Amubi behind the 'killing' by conspiring with some of her associates.

The Investigating Officer of the case submitted the charge sheet before the Court after the completion of the investigation in November last year.
