Telia Lithuania submitted an appeal to the Vilnius regional court against the decision by regulator RRT to allocate spectrum in the 2.6 GHz band to rival Bite Lithuania, reports Vz.lt. The frequencies are used by Telecentras for broadband services under the Mezon brand, and Bite Lithuania is acquiring the broadband business from Telecentras.
Telia Lithuania disagrees with the transfer of the spectrum, saying it should go up for auction. The spectrum was allocated to Telecentras without any auction or payment. Telia Lithuania wants Bite to release some of the other spectrum held by the company in exchange for the new frequencies.
Bite said that Telia is trying to protect its dominant position in the fixed internet market with the suit.
