Mrityunjaya homam performed for Rajinikanth’s health and long life

Rajinikanth with his brother Satyanarayana
CHENNAI: Actor Rajinikanth’s elder brother Satyanarayana Rao on Thursday offered a mrityunjaya homam at Arulmigu Arunagirinathar Thirukovil along the Girivalam path in Tiruvannamalai. The actor met his brother at his Bengaluru residence a couple of days ago to seek his blessings for his political journey.
Sources said Satyanarayana organised the special homam, seeking the blessings of the presiding deity Arunagirinathar, for his brother who is set to announce his political party on December 31.
“The mrityunjaya homam was performed by a ten-member group of Sivachariyars. The two and half hour homam was meant to seek the blessing of Arunagirinathar and Annamalai for the long and healthy life of our Thalaivar (Rajinikanth) and his brother,” said T Shanmugam, district president of Rajini Makkal Mantra, Tiruvannamalai.
Satyanarayana, who reached Tiruvannamalai on Wednesday afternoon, offered prayer at Sri Annamalai temple before attending the homam.
Talking to reporters after the homam, Satyanarayana said hardworking office-bearers would be “recognised” and given responsibility and posting in Rajinikanth party.
Satyanarayana denied when asked if Rajini Makkal Mandram office-bearers were not given importance and were ignored in the party proposed by the actor. He said his brother had a record of RMM members who were dedicated and hardworking. “They will be given due responsibility and postings,” he said.
Responding to a question whether Rajinikanth party would come to power without an alliance with the Dravidian parties, he said they (Dravidian parties) were nearing to their end and no one is trusting them. “The entire country itself a Sakthi Peedam. Here, people who say that there is no God will not exist for long,” he said.
