A major railway mishap was averted as a rail fracture was spotted on a track near Narinderpura railway station in Mansa district of Punjab late on Wednesday night.
The Awadh Assam Express was halted there for around two hours and given a safe passage later after the track was repaired.
The railway authorities have termed the incident as a technical issue.
Railway area traffic manager Harmeet Singh said technical issues were quite common in winter due to drop in temperature.
