Notably, Shami was rested for the recently concluded T20I series against the Aussies, which India won 2-1.
The 30-year-old reportedly suffered a niggle in the second ODI against Australia and as per Cricbuzz reporter Bharat Sundaresan, who is covering the tour in Australia, the Indian physio came out twice to have a chat with the pacer near the boundary line. Moreover, Shami was off the field for six overs during the match and was rested for the third ODI.
He missed the T20I series which have raised concerns over his fitness. However, there’s no official statement on Shami’s injury by the BCCI and the pacer might have been rested just as a precautionary measure.
Also, Shami’s latest post on Twitter in Team India’s new Test kist suggests that he is likely to return for the Test series.
Notably, Shami was excellent during India’s triumphant tour in 2018-19, he took 16 wickets in four Tests and his series average was 26.18.
