UK connectivity provider SSE Enterprise Telecoms has won a contract from Perth & Kinross Council in Scotland to deliver gigabit-capable connectivity to support future smart city projects.
This is the first gigabit-capable infrastructure project for the company through the UK Government's RM6095 framework, which aims to provide public sector organisations with fibre-optic infrastructure. The full-fibre network will span 19km, connecting 31 locations across the city region, including council buildings, leisure centres, educational buildings, care homes and residential homes.
The project is supported by GBP 1 million of funding for Perth & Kinross Council through the UK Government's Local Full Fibre Networks (LLFN) Fund. A further sum of around GBP 1 million of UK Government funding is being provided through the Tay Cities Deal.
