Gurgaon: The district administration on Wednesday brought down the number of containment zones from 124 to 54 in Gurgaon. This is the lowest number of sealed zones in the city in the past
three months.
The last time Gurgaon had 54 containment zones was on August 25, when the tally of cases was 11,162 and the number of active cases was 858. On Wednesday, the city’s
Covid tally rose to 53,360 and the number of active patients is 2,709.
“The main reason that the number of containment zones has gone down significantly is because the average number of cases reported every day has decreased. The number of active cases has also come down to 2,709. Moreover, 102 containment zones that had completed their containment period of 14 days were removed from the list and 32 new areas have been added,” said Dr M P Singh, nodal officer of containment zones from the district health department.
There are 51 containment zones in the Gurgaon block, two in Sohna block and one in Pataudi block. The maximum number of containment zones is in Nathupur urban primary health centre (UPHC) and Tigra UPHC. There are eight containment zones each in UPHC Tigra and UPHC Nathupur. Naharpur Rupa UPHC has the least number of containment zones. There is only one containment zone in Naharpur Rupa.
The new containment zones include floors 10, 11 and 12 in Block-2C and floors 9, 10 and 11 in Block-2A of DLF-5’s Princeton Estate, Block-K in DLF-3’s Lagoon Apartments and T-26/13 in Block-T of DLF-3.
Officials said there are only three containment zones in Badshahpur as the area has a few cases. There are now six containment zones in Rajendra Park.
