IFM convenes 'Loumeesingi Poinu Meepham Version 2.0'

Imphal, December 08 2020: The Irabot Foundation Manipur (IFM) today convened 'Loumeesingi Poinu Meepham Version 2.0' at Manipur Press Club with a discussion on the theme 'The Roles of Agripreneurs in Reshaping the Economy Post Pandemic' .

The second edition of the meepham/meeting was graced by president of IFM, Thongam Ajit; Senior Associate Professor-at Manipur University, Dr Chinglen Maisnam and Senior Principal Scientist at AcSIR, Dr H Birkumar as dignitaries, said the IMF in a statement.

Seven distinguished farmers and entrepreneurs who are being engaged in promoting agricultural sector in the State were honoured with certificates, citation, shawl and cash rewards in recognition of their valuable contributions during the meeting programme, the statement said.

The farmers and entrepreneur who were honoured during today's function, as per the statement are: Salam Kumar (for parkia/yongchak farming) of Keibul Lamjao Chandapur; Joe Joe Yumnam (Education and Skill Management, Integrated Institute of Sustainable Management, Biofloc); Laishram Ningthou (for grape farming/Viticulture); Pipi Keithellakpam (piggery farm proprietor) of Keithellakpam; Ragesh Keisham (CEO, CC Tea); Thangjam Joykumar (pro-prietor-Thangjam Agro Industries Pvt Ltd) and Potsangbam Debakanta (Indigenous seeds/rice) .

'Poinu Meepham' is organised post harvest season to discuss the difficulties and challenges faced during farming activities; to encourage farmers and entrepreneurs working towards the improvement of agricultural sectors in the State; to create a common platform where farmers could apprise their issues to the State Government; to gather strength and works towards achieving an agriculturally and economically self reliant Manipur, the statement said.

Excessive dependency on others for skill and technical support from outside is greatly due to Manipur's lost economic freedom, it said while asserting that it is high time the State Government pay heed to the calls pertaining to issues of farmers, raised through the foundation since the past 12 years.
