On Monday night, the city police updated a post, saying that ‘in the wake of the proposed call for bandh given by various organisations on December 8, 2020, it is advisable to avoid going out on the road between 11am to 4pm, unless in case of medical emergency. The post received 98 comments till Tuesday evening.
A city resident, Lovish Dhingra, wrote a comment, saying that, “It is very shameful for our police and the government that instead of stopping this Bharat Bandh, we are being advised to stay at home.” This comment of Dhingra initiated a conversation on the post. Another city resident Inderjit Grewal replied to him by saying that ‘you will be beaten up if you dared to come out of the house’.
Later on, many people joined them. Some supported the city police for giving a travel advisory to avoid any harassment, while some opposed it by saying that the police should remain neutral and not support any kind of bandh.
