All signs point to the final version of iOS 14.3 being available for download next week: The Fitness + service will start on 14 December, the AirPods Max - available for order now - will be available for delivery from 15 December, and on 8 December Apple released the last beta version of iOS 14.3 for developers, with the public beta likely to follow on Thursday.

As reported earlier, an icon believed to represent the new AirPods overear headphones had made an appearance in the beta. A clue that new AirPods were indeed in the pipeline.

There was also code that seems to relate to the long-rumoured AirTag, but that product has still not launched.

By inspecting the beta we can confirm that the iOS 14 update will include:

  • Changes to the TV app. It will now have its own tab for the ever-increasing amounts of content available from Apple TV+.
  • The shortcuts app will no longer take up the entire screen after it is started.
  • iOS 14.3 will unlock the ProRAW format for users of the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max.
  • Support will be offered for the new controller that comes with PlayStation 5.
  • It will be possible to use charity search engine Ecosia as the default search engine.
  • Various changes are offered in several accompanying apps, for example, there is a new section for pregnancy in the Health app.

If you are a developer you can download the iOS 14.3 beta now and try out the new features, or if you join the public beta program you will only have to wait a day of so for the update. Read about how to join the Apple beta program.
