From cosy tracksuits to OTT gowns, here's a look at the coolest ensembles we spotted on Priyanka Chopra this year
Unapologetically glamorous, Priyanka Chopra has been setting trends since she first stepped in front of a camera close to two decades ago. The global star often comes back to the same styles, all the while adding carefully chosen, new trophy pieces to her collection for fresh updates. Through her years in the limelight, Chopra has curated a wardrobe that reflects her ability to look effortless in any style. While 2020 was nothing like the year we’d expected it to be, she still managed to step out in quite a number of envy-inducing ensembles. The year was full of cool comfort-first looks, save for a handful of OTT red carpet ensembles before the COVID-19 pandemic hit.
Chopra, who's never been afraid of experimenting on the red carpet, began the year with a bang as she arrived at the the 77th Golden Globe Awards in an elegant pink off-shoulder gown. Another memorable look was the ivory Ralph & Russo number she wore for the 62nd edition of the Grammy Awards. Complete with a plunging beaded neckline, embroidered train, and ombré fringe detailing, the look received mixed reviews from fans, while Chopra's pre-Grammys party pick, a Nicolas Jebran gown, caught attention for its unconventional silhouette and romantic hue.
Come summer, the lockdown had Priyanka Chopra relying on comfortable separates, always curated perfectly to create Insta-worthy looks. Think coordinated sets, pastel tracksuits, puffer jackets and breezy capes. During her months at home, we also spotted her championing printed pussy bow numbers, crochet crops, and silky shirts. For afternoons by the poolside, Chopra managed to give loungewear a luxe update with elegant coverups, including a black bandhini number.
And that's not all. Effortlessly nailing traditional Indian looks has now become second nature to Chopra. The star never misses a chance to dress herself in the six yard staple, and 2020 had her picking some of her most interesting saris yet. For the 15th edition of the Blenders Pride Fashion Tour Finale, she made headlines in a sexy black pre-draped Tarun Tahiliani sari. As the year progressed, we also saw Chopra celebrate her second Karva Chauth in a bright red ruffle-detailed Jade by Monica and Karishma piece, and bring in Diwali with Nick Jonas in a striking floral Sabyasachi.
But does it end there? Not for Priyanka Chopra. Despite the pandemic, the star has had a busy year, and one of her last ‘red carpet’ ensembles from 2020 was a power-packed look that instantly took over trending charts. This December, the star made her virtual debut as the British Fashion Council’s new Ambassador for Positive Change in a white pantsuit with exaggerated shoulders by Bengaluru-born, London-based designer Kaushik Velendra.
