Imphal, December 08 2020: DESAM demanded appointment of the Principal and governing body of Naorem Birahari College immediately.

The statement released by the student body said, the college was already in a state of chaos due to the absence of a new governing body after the previous one had completed its term and the sudden suspension of its Principal has only made the condition worse and raised doubt whether the Government was deliberately trying to make the college go defunct.

Shamulailatpam Rishikumar, publicity and propaganda secretary DESAM, added that the Government should try to bring an amicable solution to the issues at the college to bring back academic normalcy in the campus.

Failure to do so will be an open invitation to unwanted events.

DESAM also said they will look into the matter regarding recent appointment of teachers in the college for any malpractice.

A press conference was also held at Manipur Press Club today by the staffs of Naorem Birahari College demanding the nullification of the suspension order of Dr Ng Akasini, principal on November 24 .

Ch Noren, IT Nodal officer Naorem Birahari College, said Dr Ng Akasini had only 6 months of service left to her retirement and her absence has halted scholarship application of students and paper works to be filed at Manipur University.

He requested the Education Department to nullify the order of suspension and reinstate Dr Ng Akasini to the post of principal.
