After being one of the most popular chat platforms in India, the next big thing for WhatsApp is to make people shop and make payments. WhatsApp had recently rolled out the “shopping button” by replacing the dedicated voice call button, making it clear that it is readying itself to take on giants like Amazon and Flipkart. WhatsApp also got limited user permission from National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to introduce Payments.
WhatsApp has now introduced ‘carts’ to replicate the experience of shopping from e-commerce platforms. Note that WhatsApp is slowly expanding the shopping feature and you may or may not see businesses in your region yet. Here’s everything you need to know.
The new carts feature on WhatsApp is simply an ‘Add to cart’ button
WhatsApp has introduced ‘carts’ to replicate the experience of shopping from e-commerce platforms. Carts can be simply understood as the “Add to cart” button.
WhatsApp will allow users to order multiple items at one go
With carts, you can browse a catalog, select multiple products and send the order as one message to the business. As per WhatsApp, this will make it simpler for businesses to keep track of order inquiries, manage requests from customers and close sales.
To order on WhatsApp, tap on the Shopping icon
Open WhatsApp. Go to your chat or business profile of the business you’d like to order from. Tap on the shopping button icon listed next to their name to access their catalog. Once the catalog opens, browse through the products you want to order.
You can chat with the business owner while shopping on WhatsApp
When you are visiting a business’ catalog on WhatsApp, you can use the MESSAGE BUSINESS to start a conversation or use the ADD TO CART button if you’re ready to place an order with the business about a product that you’re viewing.
Use the Add to Cart button to select multiple items
If you wish to order something after seeing the catalogues, you can tap on Add to Cart. You can return to the catalog to continue shopping or tap to view your cart. Also, you can add multiple items to your cart.
The order on WhatsApp gets confirmed only after the seller informs by messaging
Once you’ve filled your cart and finished shopping, send your cart to the business to place your order. Your order on WhatsApp is not considered final until confirmed by the seller.
