Gurgaon: A 58-year-old man was allegedly shot dead by his relative in Jharsa on Monday after a dispute ensued between them over some old issue. The accused, Kaushal (38), a resident of the same village, was arrested following the incident.
Virender Singh, a farmer, was on his way to the community centre for a social event when he was shot dead.
On December 6, Kaushal visited Virender when the two argued over some issue following which the latter issued him a death threat.
The next morning, Virender shared details of the incident with his son Amit (26), who works with a private company in Manesar. Later in the evening, Virender was on his way to Sector 39 community centre for a social event when Kaushal intercepted him on the service road of the community centre and shot him with a country-made pistol, eyewitness said.
Hearing the gunshot, people from the community centre rushed to the spot and found Virender lying in a pool of blood. He was rushed to Medanta Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. The police were then informed about the incident.
Based on a complaint filed by Amit, Kaushal was booked under IPC Section 302 (murder) and sections of Arms Act at Sadar police station. “My father had told me about the incident wherein Kaushal had threatened to kill him,” as Amit stated in his complaint.
Police spokesperson Subhash Boken said, “Investigation is underway to find out if the murder was fall out of some old enmity.”
