NEW DELHI: PM Modi on Wednesday extended warm greetings to Congress interim President, Sonia Gandhi on her 74th birthday.
The Prime Minister took to Twitter and wished for her "long and healthy life". He wrote, "Birthday greetings to Smt. Sonia Gandhi ji. May God bless her with long and healthy life."

Union minister for Road transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari also tweeted wishes to the UPA chairperson. He said and we quote, "Birthday greetings to the President of the Indian National Congress party Smt. Sonia Gandhi Ji. May you be blessed with good health and long life."

Top sources in the party yesterday announced Sonia's decision to not celebrate her birthday this year, in support of farmers protest and the distress caused by the prevailing pandemic situation in the country. The party general secretary KC Venugopal further instructed all state heads of Congress to avoid all sorts of celebrations.
Sonia Gandhi has led the Congress for 19 years. She was back in the saddle last year as Congress' interim chief after Rahul Gandhi resigned taking responsibility for the party's defeat in the Lok Sabha polls.
