Thoubal, December 08 2020: The Ningol Club has strongly condemned the act of threatening its volunteers by passenger vehicle drivers plying in the Heirok area today while trying to give awareness about COVID-19 Speaking to the media, Sophiya Khundongbam, president Ningol Club, said the club as a part of its continuing fight against Covid-19 advised the drivers of passenger vehicles in the area to observe SOPs as mandated by the Government and to avoid carrying passengers more than as directed and some drivers resorted to threat of violence against the volunteers of the club.

This unprovoked act was very unfortunate and sought attention of the Government on this, she added.

She also criticised the Government for making the SOPs but not enforcing it as seen in passenger vehicles who charge higher fare but also carry passengers more than the mandated numbers.

She also said it was not only the duty of the Government to combat the pandemic, but we, the people, also had equal share of duty in the fight against Covid-19 .
