
Popular Tamil TV star VJ Chitra was on Wednesday found dead in a room at a hotel in Chennai’s Nazrathpet. She was 29.
Nazrathpet police have registered a case and are inquiring into the matter. A police official from Nazrathpet station told indianexpress.com, “Around 2:30-2:45 am today, the hotel manager called the police helpline number (100) informing about the incident. Based on that information, we immediately reached the hotel. The body was recovered and sent to Kilpauk government hospital for post-mortem. We are ascertaining the cause of death.”
VJ Chitra’s tragic death has sent a shock wave across the Tamil entertainment industry. She was at the top of her career as a television host and actor. Chitra was particularly popular among Star Vijay viewers, with her turn as Mullai Kathiravan aka Mulla in the serial Pandian Stores garnering much praise.
