Communications services provider iBasis has signed a contract to provide its Global Access for Things service to React Mobile. The service will use a Nordic Semiconductor nRF9160 SIP to provide global IoT connectivity to panic buttons and devices around the world. React Mobile’s Hospitality Safety platform is used by hotels in emergency situations. With over 50,000 panic buttons deployed, React Mobile will use the iBasis IoT eSim service to dynamically select the local mobile IoT communications carrier with the strongest signal on and off the hotel property in case of a problem. The system works in seconds.
With the availability of LTE-M modem chips and global eSims, React Mobile can now provide a standalone LTE version of its panic button that no longer needs a smartphone to connect to the mobile network. With the iBasis system, React can integrate pre-activated Sim cards into their devices and access pooled data to ensure that Sim cards stay active and do not require 'refills' or maintenance.
