YAMUNANAGAR: An 18-year-old girl from Yamunanagar district of Haryana has filed a complaint against a man accusing him of raping her multiple times on the pretext of marriage.
The girl alleged that accused Shahrukh Khan introduced himself to her as Shanu which was not his real name.
Following the complaint, a case has been registered against Shahrukh Khan, his two brothers - Amir Khan and Sidu Khan and their father Gulfan, all residents of Bhagwanpur village of Sirmaur district in Himachal Pradesh.
The accused were booked under Section 4 (punishment for penetrative sexual assault) and Section 8 (punishment for sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from the Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), Section 365 (kidnapping) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Yamunanagar women's police station on Monday.
In her complaint, the girl stated that she met Shahrukh at a marriage function at Paonta Sahib in Himachal Pradesh on February 17, 2020.
She had visited Paonta Sahib to perform at a marriage function with her elder sister who is a member of a Bhangra group.
“Shahrukh introduced himself as Shanu and took my mobile number. He called me the next day. He said he loved me and proposed to marry me. When I refused his proposal, he threatened to commit suicide. He forced me to talk to him. After taking my address, he came near my house and called me to meet him. He took me to Paonta Sahib on a motorcycle, where tried to convince me to marry him. Later, he raped me twice at a hotel and dropped me back to Yamunanagar the same day,” stated the girl.
She added that between February and March this year, the accused continued take her to Paonta Sahib and sexually exploited her at a hotel.
“After the lockdown was imposed, the accused took me to Paonta Sahib on May 30. He kept me at a hotel for two-three days. Then, he took me to a room at a PG facility near Shani Temple and kept me there for about two-three months. He used to visit me in the night and kept me locked in the room whenever he went out,” the girl alleged.
“One day, I found his Aadhaar card on which his name real name was mentioned as Shahrukh Khan. I was shocked to see that. Sometimes, he used to bring along his brothers - Amir Khan and Sidu Khan, who also tried to sexually assault me. On September 15, 2020, I strictly asked Shahrukh about the marriage, and then he told me that I was not from his community and he could not marry me,” the girl stated in her complaint.
She said when she tried to contact Shahrukh, his father Gulfan threatened to kill her.
"The statement of the complainant is yet to be recorded before a magistrate to start the process of arresting the accused. We have registered a case and the investigation is being done. The girl was a minor at the time of the occurrence of the crime,” Yamunanagar women's police station in-charge Somvati said.
