Imphal, December 08 2020: The Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN) has appealed to the Government to move the Tribal Freedom Fighter's Museum to Zeliangrong area in Tamenglong or Noney.

Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, ZU president Athon Abonmei said that the Government should recognise the contribution of Rani Gaidinliu and not "insult" the Zeliangrong people by going against their will.

The museum should be constructed at a site which fulfils all the criteria as laid down by the Centre, he said asserting that the site at Makhan, Senapati district doesn't meet the criteria.

After the Prime Minister's intervention was sought, Union Minister, Arjun Munda had written to the Chief Minister on November 28 to review the site stating that the Makhan site doesn't meet the required criteria.

The Union Minister has also instructed the Government to install the museum at Zeliangrong area where all criteria are met, he claimed.

Further, the body met Chief Minister N Biren Singh today regarding the matter and the CM has given assurance that the museum will be constructed at a site which will benefit all communities, he said and sought cooperation of all.
