Singapore operator StarHub has selectes Broadpeak to power its new StarHub TV+ converged IPTV and OTT TV service. Using a complete CDN, content packaging, storage, and origination service from Broadpeak, StarHub now plans to deliver OTT live TV and VOD content on all screens.
The primary goals of revamping its OTT platform were to deliver better quality, and offer more services and advanced features such as start-over and instant availability of 24 hour Time-shift TV for its customers, StarHub said.
The StarHub TV+ service also uses Broadpeak’s BkS350 Origin Packager to deliver live, time-shifted, and VOD services to any device. Combining an on demand packaging feature with a built-in cache mechanism, the BkS350 Origin Packager is expected to reduce the need for encoding and storage resources while also providing StarHub with a high throughput capacity.
