Oman's total fixed internet subscriptions rose by 4.6 percent to 495,400 at the end of October compared with the same period of 2019, according to the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI). Fixed broadband internet connections at over 256 kbps were up 4.6 percent to 493,364. Active mobile broadband subscribers increased 17.9 percent to 5.12 million but fixed telephone lines fell by 0.9 percent to 584,894.
According to the NCSI's latest report, the number of VoIP lines surged by 11.3 percent to 230,787. Analogue fixed connections fell by 8.2 percent to 298,258 compared with October 2019. Public payphone connections remained unchanged at 6,801 whereas ISDN channels fell 3.6 percent to 47,583. Mobile subscribers fell 2.8 percent to 6.09 million. Out of this, postpaid mobile connections increased by 26.9 percent to 922,605 and pre-paid mobile connections fell 6.7 percent to 5.17 million in October. The number of subscribers of resellers rose by 10.3 percent to 1.03 million.
