YouTube has revealed that users of the site watched over 100 billion hours of gaming content on the platform in 2020, double the figure reached in 2018. In a blog post, the company said YouTube now has over 40 million active gaming channels, while watch time on YouTube Gaming live streams reached 10 billion hours this year. In addition, over 80,000 channels now have 100,000 subscribers while more than 1,000 channels have 5 million subscribers and 350 channels have 10 million-plus subscribers.
Minecraft was by far the most-watched game on YouTube in 2020 with 201 billion views of uploaded videos and live streams, followed by Roblox with 75 billion views, Garena Free Fire with 72 billion, Grand Theft Auto V with 70 billion and Fortnite with 67 billion.
