Electricity Dept Employees strike called off

Puducherry, Dec 8 (UNI) Employees of the Puducherry Electricity Department on Tuesday night called off their six day old strike, protesting the move of the centre to privatize the department.

This followed a talk chief minister V Narayanasamy had with the employees association, according to a release from the office of the chief minister tonight.Earlier,the talk chief secretary Aswini Kumar had with the employees failed following which the chief minister held the talk.

During the talks the chief minister pointed out that a resolution opposing the move to privatize the electricity department was adopted in the assembly and forwarded to the centre.Stating that it is an issue affecting the welfare of the UT,the chief minister assured the employees that he would take the employee’s representatives along with electricity minister Kamalakannan to New Delhi next month and press the centre to drop the move to privatize the department.

Mysuru, Dec 8 (UNI) State-owned Mysore Paints and Varnish Limited (MPVL), also known as MyLAC, on Tuesday received orders from the State Election Commission for supply of 99,000 vials of indelible ink (5ml each) and 6,580 packets of sealing wax for the upcoming Gram Panchayat (GP) elections.
