See the new Midland Pullman’s inaugural journey this Saturday

Back in 1960, the Midland Pullman was Britain’s first luxury high speed diesel-electric train, famous for the trains blue livery and the white jacketed stewards on board.

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Midland Pullman, an Intercity 125 train has been redecorated in the same bold blue livery, and will be running tours around the UK. The first of these restored Midland Pullman tours will take place this coming Saturday (12th Dec), leaving St Pancras International in the morning, and returning in the evening.

While the main appeal for passengers was the service on board, many more people on the sidelines watched for the bold blue train to rush past. There are still some tickets left to be on board, but if you want to watch the restored Midland Pullman service passing through North London, the estimated times are below.

The restored HST (High Speed Train) being used for the service is itself 46 years old and is the only one in preservation capable of speeds up to 125mph on the main line. It’s in the same striking Nanking blue livery with white trim of the original, with the crest on front, and is already turning heads on its trial trips.

If you want to watch, then the standard rules for stations apply, no flash on cameras and no tripods, otherwise be sensible. Alternatively, watch from suitable bridges over railways along the route.
