THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state on Monday reported 3,272
Covid-19 cases taking the total number of cases reported to date to 6,39,664.
While 5,77,616 people have recovered from the infection in the state to date, including 4,705 patients who beat the virus on Monday, there are 59,467 still undergoing treatment for the same. In 24 hours, 33,758 samples were tested in the state and the
test positivity rate is 9.7%.
Among the new cases, 3,223 were infected through contacts while the sources of infection were unknown in 328 others. Moreover, 36 healthcare workers were also among the infected on the day while 49 of the fresh cases were people that arrived in the state recently.
Meanwhile, 23
deaths were confirmed as being caused by
Covid-19 taking the toll in the state to 2,442. Malappuram recorded the highest number of cases, 541 followed by Kozhikode, 383, Thrissur, 304, Kollam, 292, Alappuzha, 287, Ernakulam, 278,
Thiruvananthapuram, 255, Kottayam, 202, Palakkad, 202, Kannur, 154, Idukki, 146, Pathanamthitta, 121, Wayanad, 63 and Kasaragod, 44.

Kannur witnessed the highest number of
infections (10) among healthcare workers in the state on Monday. The other district-wise tally of Covid cases reported in health workers is Ernakulam, seven, Kozhikode, six, Thiruvananthapuram, four, Palakkad, three, Thrissur,two, and Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki and Wayanad, one each.
Malappuram district topped the list of recoveries made on the day with 864. The number of recoveries reported from the other districts is Thiruvananthapuram, 297, Kollam, 329, Pathanamthitta, 171, Alappuzha, 312, Kottayam, 354, Idukki, 119, Ernakulam, 354, Thrissur, 563, Palakkad, 323, Kozhikode, 571, Wayanad, 150, Kannur, 234 and Kasaragod, 64.
There are 3,09,887 people under isolation in the state, including 2,95,304 under home or institutional quarantine and 14,583 in hospitals. On Monday, at least 1,353 new hospital admissions were reported in the state.
Three places were demarcated as hotspots and one area was excluded from the list leaving 448 hotspots in the state.
