According to a media report, the Tata Altroz turbo-petrol will use a Shaeffler wet clutch 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, while the gear shifter will be supplied by Lumax.
The 7-speed DCT is likely to be offered on the top-spec variant. The car equipped with the 7-speed DCT is expected to be slightly heavier than the manual version.
The report suggests that Tata was initially planning to use a Punch-sourced 7-speed DT-1 dry clutch dual-clutch transmission in the Altroz turbo-petrol.
According to a leaked document, the Altroz will be offered with a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 108 BHP @ 5,500 rpm and 140 Nm @ 1,500-5,500 rpm. It will compete with the Hyundai i20 1.0L DCT, Volkswagen Polo 1.0 TSI, Baleno / Glanza CVT and the Honda Jazz CVT.
