The State Election Commission (SEC) had stopped the Flood Assistance distribution in view of the model code of conduct for the GHMC elections that were held on 1st December, the results for which were declared on 4th December. Lokesh Kumar, ghmc Commissioner, said ghmc officials will visit the houses to conduct verification of the affected families, after which the amount will be deposited directly into their bank accounts. However, people were not confident about this move of the Government.

"Now that the elections were completed, the government is likely to finish off the scheme for namesake. They may give the assistance for few more people just for the sake of giving and announce completion of the scheme," they suspect. Some suspect the government may help only the people of those divisions where trs won in the ghmc elections and leave the remaining divisions. It is known to our readers that The State government has announced 10,000 Rupees to every family affected due to the floods last month.
