K'taka Assembly session cut short to 4 days due to Gram Panchayat elections

Bengaluru, Dec 8 (UNI) Karnataka Assembly session which began on Monday has been curtailed to four days due to upcoming Gram Panchayat elections, Law Minister Madhuswamy said here on Tuesday.

The session was scheduled to end on December 15, however, it will now end on Thursday evening owing to the upcoming Gram Panchayat elections that will start from December 22 till 27.

This decision was taken today after a meeting between Chief Minister BS Yeddiyurappa, leader of the opposition Siddaramiah, Ministers JC Madhuswamy and Suresh Kumar.

During the next two days, the government will give priority to introduce amendments, Mr Madhuswamy added.

LVPEI to receive unique global award for its impactful contributions to eliminate blindness

Hyderabad, Dec 8 (UNI) L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) is one of the few recipients of the very prestigious ‘The Greenberg Prize – End Blindness 2020.'

The winners were chosen based on the strength of their contributions to eliminate blindness. Dr Gullapalli N Rao, Founder-Chair, L V Prasad Eye Institute is being presented with this award in the ‘Outstanding Achievement Prize’ category, a statement here said on Tuesday.
