NIA arrests arms trafficker from Gaya in Bihar

New Delhi, Dec 8 (UNI) The anti- terror probe agency NIA on Tuesday said that it has arrested one accused Rajeev Ranjan Singh aka Chunnu Singh in a case related to the stealing of weapon parts from the Jabalpur Central Ordnance Depot on December 7.

Accused Singh, a resident of Atri village of Gaya district is a habitual arms trafficker and was one of the main conduits for supply of weapons in this case and the investigation has disclosed some incriminating evidence of his involvement in this case.

This case pertains to the recovery of three AK series weapons from the house of one accused Rizwana Begum in Munger district of Bihar. Subsequently, a case was registered on September 7, 2018 at the local police station.

The National Investigation Agency took over this case and initiated investigation.

So far, the investigation in the case has revealed that prohibited bore/AK series weapons were stolen and smuggled from the sheds of Central Ordnance Depot by serving and retired personnel of the depot and sold to arms traffickers based in Munger which were eventually sold to various Naxal organisations and criminal syndicates.

The probe agency had earlier arrested and charge-sheeted 13 accused persons, the NIA officials said, adding that further investigation in the case is under progress.
