India records 26,567 new COVID cases, recovery rate 94.59 pc

New Delhi, Dec 8 (UNI) After a very long time, the nation on Tuesday recorded fresh spike of COVID cases under 30 k, which were 26,567 during the past 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry update said here.

The overall COVID cases of the country has now surged to 97,03,770 , the data update added.

Meanwhile, the active cases have also reduced by 12,863 since Monday due to more discharged cases as compared to the new ones since past one day and presently the active case count of the nation stands at 3,83,866.

As per the government data, 39,045 people defeated the highly contagious virus in the past 24 hours and the now the total recoveries have reached 91,78,946 till date.

Talking of the COVID deaths, 385 more lives were lost to the virus spread since Monday, and the death toll has now reached 1,40,958.

According to the ICMR , 14,88,14,055 cumulative samples have been tested for the infection till date since the beginning.

In percentage, now the active cases are 3.96 per cent, discharged 94.59 per cent and the fatalities 1.45 per cent of the total case count of the nation so far.
