We back France in terror fight: PM to Macron

New Delhi, December 7

French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday called up PM Narendra Modi to discuss a wide range of issues including deepening defence cooperation, the Indo-Pacific and the security environment in Asia and West Asia.

Modi conveyed to Macron his condolences for the terror attacks in France, and reiterated India’s support in the fight against terrorism, extremism and radicalism, said a release from the PMO.

France had played a major role in ensuring that Kashmir stayed off the G-20 joint statement during its summit soon after the change in its status in 2019. India is also buying fighter aircraft from France and its submarines are the latest additions to its Navy.

The two leaders also discussed other bilateral, regional and global issues including post-Covid economic recovery and climate change. — TNS
